We strive to achieve positive, meaningful outcomes though multifarious analysis. Recognizing the parental role in each student’s behavior plan, we encourage parent & Siblings input and support. Our psychologists listen, learn and work to find the very best way to accomplish each student’s behavior goals. Psychology actively participates in a team process that evaluates and monitors each student’s progress. Psychological support and consultation are available to our students in all working hours a day.

EARLY INTERVENTION

The early intervention services are provided for the children at risk or development delay from birth to 3 years. The children are assessed by a team of multidisciplinary experts through various developmental checklists in different aspects of development such as motor, cognitive, language and social areas. Parental training is provided those prefer to carry out recommended therapies at home. Home based training is also promoted.

NEURO DEVELOPMENTAL THERAPY

The NDT Approach is used for management and treatment of individuals with central nervous system (CNS) pathophysiology. The individual's strengths and impairments are identified and addressed in relation to functional abilities and limitations. NDT is a non-invasive program of movements which aims to promote development of the nervous system and the inhibition of primitive reflexes.

The program consists of movements which are used naturally by a baby and a young child. By repeating them for a little time every day, the nervous system is gently encouraged to mature and become more open to learning. In our Centre each person will have a set of specific movements which are performed every day for approximately 15-30 minutes. A complete program generally lasts for between 12-18 months. This varies from person to person and depends on such factors as the number of reflexes retained, the degree of retention and the ability of the individual to do the movements. After it starts, we will normally see the individuals and check progress every six weeks. This is very important as it gives the individuals the support individuals need and the comfort of knowing how things are developing.

PEDIATRIC PHYSICAL THERAPY

DOLPHIN’s physical therapist, assess motor planning, sensory-motor coordination, posture, balance, functional mobility, environmental adaptations and the use or need for assistive devices for each when determining if that student may require physical therapy services. Our physical therapy sessions are designed to allow each student to have mobility throughout our campus; participate in classroom, home and community activities, maintain or change positions in the classroom and at home; as well as manage stairs, restrooms, and the Public places.

Physical Therapy services focus on developing, restoring, and preserving physical function and mobility. Physical therapy services are provided by a qualified physical therapist. School-based physical therapy is a related service with services provided at no cost to the family to students from 3 years. School PT is provided to children with a disability so that they can benefit from their special education program. This includes accessing their special education and the school environment, working toward physical independence, and participating in their educational curriculum to the best of their ability. The IEP team determines the need for services with recommendations from a licensed PT based on therapist's testing and classroom observations. PT services may include direct one-on-one therapy in the child’s educational environment, collaboration with staff, modification and adaptation of the student’s physical environment, staff trainings, as well as communication/collaboration with families, physicians, equipment vendors, and outside agencies.

NUTRITIONAL INTERVENTIONS

The DOLPHIN’S aim is to help parents understand, implement and maintain dietary intervention for their Special kids. We particularly give importance for enhancing the dietary system of autistic individuals. Many parents are convinced of the validity of dietary intervention for autistic individuals, but do not have the resources to try it themselves, especially those with picky eaters and skeptical spouses. Our Nutrition consultant will assist the needy individuals along with their parents to make systemized dietary plan for each quarter months. This planning and periodical monitoring brings out some positive changes in their behavior and enhanced physical fitness.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPY

The speech-language pathologists at DOLPHIN recognize that each student is unique and create customized intervention plans, visual supports and procedures for each student. Our Speech-language therapist provides one-to-one direct services, group services, consultation and indirect services in the classroom. Also train classroom staff and Parents how to run intervention plans and procedures. By doing so, the students are provided with multiple opportunities throughout their day at home and school to practice their communication skills. A variety of strategies and techniques are used to promote communication with all the children. The use of spoken language is encouraged along with sign language and AT (assistive technology) and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). The activities are varied to include building cognitive/thinking skills, pretend play, and vocabulary and concept development for receptive language skills; and expressive language use through a variety of pragmatic functions ( to include signing, verbalizing, and/or the use of an AAC device or picture displays).

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational therapist often evaluate a child’s motor skills for playing, school performance and daily activities and compare those skills to what is developmentally appropriate. Occupational therapy treatment focuses on helping children achieve independence in all areas of their lives. Our occupational therapist evaluates and observes students to determine strengths and weaknesses. We provide services including fine motor and sensory skill enhancement as well as helping our students gain independence through activities of daily living. Working with students either directly or indirectly and consulting with staff to carry out objectives designed for each student, occupational therapy can ensure programs are consistent in the classroom and the group home. OT can help kids with various needs improve their cognitive, physical, and motor skills and enhance their self-esteem, self care (i.e. feeding) and sense of accomplishment. Occupational therapy in school settings encourages academic success and helps students with disabilities and individuals experiencing specific problems reach their highest potential. It focuses on helping students pay attention and concentrate, demonstrate appropriate behavior, and hold objects such as books and pencils. Considered a special education service, occupational therapy within schools is a part of a child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and must support the necessary educational objectives.
